Thame

Location

Thame is an attractive market town offering a wide range of amenities including a variety of churches, three primary schools and a secondary school, a theatre, a museum, a leisure centre, a library, a weekly street market, three supermarkets and various smaller shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. It is centrally located between Oxford and Aylesbury, both offering more facilities. Thame is surrounded by the Chilterns countryside with many places for pleasant recreation.

Transport Links

  • Road: Thame is easily accessible from the M40 (Junctions 6, 7 and 8a).
  • Rail: There is a train service from the neighbouring village of Haddenham into Marylebone in central London which runs frequently and takes about 40 minutes. There are also trains to Oxford and Birmingham. The station is a short bus ride away.
  • Coach: The Airline coach service runs regularly between Heathrow and Gatwick airports and Oxford. Nearby coach stops include:

    • Thornhill Park & Ride which is served by buses to/from Thame; bus details can be found via the Oxford Bus Company.
    • Lewknor Turn (M40 Junction 6) which is a 15-minute drive south of Thame.
